UNION SENIOR PLAZA  - 151 South Franklin Street
Project Description:   To help meet the needs of seniors wishing to remain near their families, the Union Senior Plaza Corporation, a not-for-profit housing developer, constructed 57 units of affordable senior housing on land acquired through the use of the CDA’s eminent domain authority.  This modern facility includes an integral senior activity center, adequate parking for residents and visitors and security measures appropriate to the building’s use.   Sparrow Construction Corp. of the Bronx was the general contractor.  The project was completed in March of 2002.  Funding was procured as follows:
$1,000,000.00 HUD HOME Funds
$1,400,000.00 NYS HTF Funds
$4,000,000.00 TAX CREDIT EQUITY
 
ANTIOCH CITADEL OF HOPE -  107 James L.L. Burrell Avenue
 

Project Description: The Antioch Development Corporation created this 36 unit senior affordable apartment complex on vacant land in the Hempstead Heights community.  The complex includes on-site parking and a senior activity center.  Jobco Incorporated of Great Neck was the general contractor for this project.  The facility was completed in November 2000.  Funding was procured as follows:

PATTERSON MEWS -  Baldwin  Road and Greenwich Street
 

Project Description:  This 32 unit affordable townhouse condominium complex was constructed on the former 6 acre Patterson estate property.   The housing program was for first time homebuyers who met the federal family income guideline of 80% of median Nassau County income.  A lottery system was used to choose the new homeowners.   The CDA was the developer of this project and the contractor was Roman Roads Construction Co. of Queens.  The project was completed in September 1997.  Funds were procured as follows:

$480,000.00 N Y STATE AHC FUNDS
     
COLONNA HOUSE – 123 West Columbia Street
 

Project Description:  This 37 unit senior affordable rental apartment complex was created by the Sheldrake Organization.  It is within one block of the Long Island Railroad Station and is across the street from the Long Island Bus terminal.  The Hempstead CDA is at the forefront of “smart growth” development on Long Island, with its’ placement of affordable housing within walking distance of the Village’s multi-modal transportation hub.  This project was completed in June of 1995 using the following funding sources:

RIVOLI HOUSE -  40 West Columbia Street
 

Project Description:  The 112 unit Rivoli House was created by the Sheldrake Organization for seniors and families.  It sits on the site of the former Rivoli Theatre, one of Long Island’s earliest movie houses.  These affordable rentals are located within a block of both the LIRR and Long Island Bus terminals.  The ground floor contains retail and office space, including a child day care center.  The project was completed in January, 1998.  Funding sources were:

$1,400,000.00 HUD HOME FUNDS
$1,000.000.00 CDBG Funds
$6,000,000.00 NYS Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
